Explanation of the Book of Hajj-10a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Furrah ibn Abi al-Mughirah narrated to us, Ali ibn Masihr narrated to us from Hisham ibn Urwah, who said: Urwah said:
The people used to perform tawaf in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance naked, except for al-Hams. Al-Hams were Quraysh and those whom they had given birth to. Al-Hams would claim credit with the people; a man would give a man clothes to perform tawaf in, and a woman would give a woman clothes to perform tawaf in. Whoever al-Hams did not give clothes to would perform tawaf around the House naked.

The Shaykh : Ignorance, great ignorance. That is, they did not perform tawaf except in clothes from Quraysh, and whoever did not obtain this would perform tawaf naked. But praise be to Allah, they say: they would claim credit. The apparent meaning of "claim credit" is that they gave them [clothes] without compensation. Yes, that is correct.
The reciter: "The majority of the people would depart from 'Arafah, while al-Hams would depart from Muzdalifah. He said: And my father informed me from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that this verse was revealed regarding al-Hams
Then depart from the place from where [all] the people depart ثم أفيضوا من حيث أفاض الناس
[Al-Baqarah 2:199]
He said: They used to depart from Muzdalifah, so they were directed to 'Arafah."
