Benefits of the hadith regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departing from 'Arafah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This contains an addition to what was mentioned previously, namely that he performed wudu' again, a complete wudu', at Muzdalifah. It also serves as evidence that continuity between the two groups of prayers is not a condition, provided that the combining is a combining of delay. The combining of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) at Muzdalifah between Maghrib and 'Isha' is undoubtedly a combining of delay, because he departed from the farthest point of 'Arafah, from its eastern side, and he would not reach Muzdalifah except late, especially since he stopped and dismounted his camel in the middle of the road, urinated, and performed wudu'. Therefore, the combining is undoubtedly a combining of delay.
And here
he offered the sunset prayer. Then everyone made his Camel kneel down at his place. صلى المغرب ثم أناخ كل إنسان بعيره في منزله
Sunan Abi Dawud 1925Sahih (Al-Albani)
This requires time, from which it is derived that continuity between the two groups of prayers is not a condition in a combining of delay. As for a combining of advance, it is said that continuity between the two prayers is a condition, which is the opinion of the majority of scholars. It is also said that it is not a condition, which is the choice of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). The rationale for his choice is that when the cause for combining is present, the two times become one time, so one may pray both prayers together or separately; the important thing is that you are now in a single, expanded time. His statement (may Allah have mercy on him) is strong, his statement is undoubtedly strong, because the meaning of combining is attaching one time to another, so it is permissible to pray at the beginning of the time, in the middle of the time, or at the end of the time, or to pray one prayer at the beginning of the time and the other at the end of it, because the meaning of combining is expanding the time for people in this regard. However, if a person sees it as precautionary not to separate between the two groups of prayers when the combining is a combining of advance, then that is better. Yes.

The questioner : Shaykh (may Allah preserve you), if one arrives at Muzdalifah at the time of Maghrib before 'Isha', does he delay the prayer?

The Shaykh : He comes.
