The Shaykh : This contains the benefit of deriving a ruling from the approval of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); had it been forbidden, it would not have been accepted. It also indicates that the one who is most devoted to following the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is most protected from approving of what is wrong. And as a person’s strength increases, his faith increases, and he is further removed from approving of anyone’s wrongdoing. Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and him) used this negative evidence here, just as he used the evidence that the fee for a bathhouse is lawful.
