I receive my salary monthly, and after seven months or more, I send it to some people as a trust in their hands or to a service. How do I pay the zakah on that money?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I receive my salary monthly, and after seven months or more, I send it to some brothers as a trust in their hands or to a service. How do I pay the zakah on that? May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : You pay its zakah when a year has passed since you received this money. However, since this money is a salary that comes month after month, it may be difficult for a person to track each month separately. So we say: when a year has passed from the first month, pay the zakah for all of it. The zakah on the portion for which a year has not yet passed is considered early zakah. For example, if we assume the salary is one thousand riyals starting from Muharram, then when Dhu al-Hijjah is completed, a year has passed for the first salary. If you pay the zakah for all of it, you are paying the zakah for twelve months in one lump sum. The zakah for the month of Muharram is the zakah on money for which a year has passed, and it is well known that zakah is obligatory on money for which a year has passed. The zakah for the months after the first month is early zakah. There is no harm in paying zakah early, especially in a situation like this where it is difficult for a person to calculate each month separately.
It remains for me that he said: "or to a service", so I do not know what he means by: "or to a service". Does he mean that he pays it into a commercial venture or into a religious service, such as road repair or the like? I do not know. Therefore, the answer to this part is suspended until the matter becomes clear to us.

The questioner : May Allah thank you, O honorable Shaykh, and may He magnify your reward, and may He bless you and your knowledge and make it beneficial.
