Zakah on the Monthly Salary

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I have money that I have saved from my monthly salary at work over the course of a year. Is there zakah on it, knowing that I do not determine when I will spend it?

Answer:
If an employee saves something from his salary, he must record it in writing so that he knows when it began and when it ended. Whenever a year has passed for him, he pays zakah on it at the rate of one-quarter of one-tenth. If he saves one thousand or two thousand every month, he records the month in which he saved it. When the year is completed, he pays zakah on this saved amount.
And so for the second month, and so for the third month. He pays zakah on each month when its year has passed. If he pays zakah on all of them when the year of the first month is completed, that is permissible, and the zakah for the second month and those after it becomes early zakah, and that does not harm him.

Question: Does that mean he pays the zakah for each month?

Answer: Every month, when the year is completed, it is obligatory to pay the zakah. Then so for the second month, and so for the third month, and so for the fourth month.

The student: Does that mean it is as if he pays the zakah for every month?

Answer: Yes.

The student: On the basis that twelve months have passed for each month?

Answer: That is it. And if he pays zakah for all of them at the beginning of the year, the objective is achieved, and the later months’ zakah is paid.
