From the rulings of zakah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It is common for people to give their zakah in this month due to the virtue of the time, and there is nothing wrong with that, nor any blame on a person for making Ramadan the month of zakah. The Commander of the Faithful, 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), used to address the people and say:
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Once the Prophet (ﷺ) ascended the pulpit and it was the last gathering in which he took part. He was covering his shoulder with a big cloak and binding his head with an oily bandage. He glorified and praised Allah and said, "O people! Come to me." So the people came and gathered around him and he then said, "Amma ba'du." "From now onward the Ansar will decrease and other people will increase. So anybody who becomes a ruler of the followers of Muhammad and has the power to harm or benefit people then he should accept the good from the benevolent amongst them (Ansar) and overlook the faults of their wrong-doers." أما بعد : فإن هذا شهر زكاتكم
Sahih al-Bukhari 927
. It was said that it was the month of Muharram, and it was said that it was the month of Ramadan. In any case, there is no blame on a person for designating a specific month in which he counts his wealth subject to zakah and pays it. However, he must not delay what has become obligatory until that month. For example, if your zakah became obligatory in Rajab, it is not permissible to delay it until Ramadan. But you may advance your zakah, which is not due until Dhu al-Hijjah, to Ramadan, and there is no blame in that. The important thing is that since it is the custom of many people to give their zakah in Ramadan, a person must first know: the wealth subject to zakah, secondly, the amount of zakah, and thirdly, to whom the zakah is distributed? How many are these? How many, my brothers? Three.
First: the wealth subject to zakah. Is every type of wealth subject to zakah? This is one point.
Second: the amount of zakah. Half, a quarter, a tenth, more, or less—we must know. Just as it is obligatory for us to know the prayers of Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib, and 'Isha' and the number of their rak'ahs, so it is with zakah, because zakah is the sister of prayer and its companion in the Book of Allah.
Third: to whom is it distributed? Is a person free to distribute it however he wishes? No. Good.
