How do we reconcile the saying of Allah the Exalted, “And say to the believing women that they cast down their gazes,” with the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Aisha, “Do you wish to look at the Ethiopians?”

The Shaykh : How do we reconcile the saying of Allah the Exalted:

And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision

وقل للمؤمنات يغضضن من أبصارهن

[An-Nur 24:31]

with the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Aisha:

Do you wish to look

أتريدين أن تنظري

?
