If one prays outside the Prophet’s Mosque out of necessity, does one still receive the virtue?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
One prayer in this mosque of mine is better than a thousand prayers anywhere else صلاة في مسجدي هذا أفضل من ألف صلاة فيما سواه
Sunan Ibn Majah 1404Sahih (Darussalam)
Some people say: that the one who prayed outside the Prophet’s Mosque, meaning he did not obtain this multiplication, even if the rows are connected. Is this statement correct? Did he not find a place in the mosque?

The Shaykh : It is correct, except if the Companions contradict it. If the Companions contradict it, then place his statement on the ground. The Companions contradicted it, because 'Umar expanded the Prophet’s Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Muslims prayed in it and considered it the Prophet’s Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him). Likewise, 'Uthman expanded it from the qiblah side as well, and the Prophet’s Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him) became behind the people, and the people came to the first row in 'Uthman’s expansion (may Allah be pleased with him) during the time of the Companions. So we do not know if this man is more knowledgeable than the Companions or more pious than the Companions? No, neither this nor that. Yes, if it connects, even though a hadith was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
That his mosque is his mosque, even if it extends to Aden. أن مسجده مسجده ولو وصل إلى عدن
Aden, where is it in it? In the farthest part of Yemen. So the Prophet’s Mosque, however far it extends, if it connects to ... rows, it is the Prophet’s Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him).

The questioner : He says: the one who prayed outside the building, and the rows are connected.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : ... unlike the one who prayed inside?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is correct that he did not pray in the mosque; he prayed outside the mosque. But the congregation is one; the congregation is one. And as came in the hadith:
for they are a people the seat-fellows of whom are in no way unfortunate. هم القوم لا يشقى بهم جليسهم
Sahih Muslim 2689
regarding the one who sat in a circle of remembrance seeking a worldly matter. What we see is that if the rows are connected, the ruling is one, if Allah wills. And with the adhan, the time ends.
Glory be to Thee. O Allah, and I begin with praise of Thee, I testify that there is no god but Thou; I ask Thy pardon, and return to Thee in repentance. وسبحانك اللهم ربنا وبحمدك أشهد أن لا إله إلا أنت أستغفرك وأتوب إليك
Sunan Abi Dawud 4859Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
Until next Thursday, if Allah wills. May Allah connect us and you to good, and conclude for us and for you with good.
