Is it permissible to hunt the 'adib lizard with a weapon?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, we heard a fatwa attributed to you, and we want to verify its authenticity.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : That it is not permissible to hunt the 'adib lizard with a weapon because it is within one's control?

The Shaykh : As for the 'adib lizard that is in your hand, you must slaughter it because you are able to do so. As for the one on the road, you are not able to catch it. If you are able to catch it, it is not permissible [to kill it] except by slaughtering it. If you are not able to catch it, it is permissible to shoot it with a rifle. If a camel runs away and you cannot catch it, it is permissible to kill it by shooting it. Or if it falls into a well and you are unable to descend to it to slaughter it, then use the rifle. How much more so with the 'adib lizard?
And if you hear something from me that you find objectionable, contact me, because many things are attributed to me and to other scholars that are not correct. They are either pure lies, or the questioner asked and did not understand the answer, or he asked about a situation that did not actually occur, so I answered according to his question, or it is a distortion of the reputation. In reality, reporting from scholars is either an error in the question, an error in understanding the answer, or an intention of harm. If none of these occurred, then if you hear from any scholar something you find objectionable, contact him so that you may be certain. Yes, the oath.
