The questioner : We wish for you to shed light on the following hadith: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2320?
The Shaykh : The meaning of this hadith is that the world is nothing in the sight of Allah the Exalted and is not worth anything. If it were something of value in the sight of Allah, He would not give a disbeliever a drink of water from it, because the disbeliever is not worthy of that.
The scholars have discussed the authenticity of this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). However, if it is authentic, its meaning is what we have stated.
