What is the ruling on one who sees in a dream that he asks a mufti, who then answers him? Does he act on the fatwa?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : O Shaykh, may Allah reward you with Paradise: Many nights, I mean, I see in a dream as if I am in your lesson, and I have some issues, so I ask you about them and you answer me. What is the ruling on the answer, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : By Allah, I do not recall this. I do not recall this, and I do not feel when I dream that you are asking me that you are asking me. No, do not rely on this. If you heard it from the tape, there is no harm. As for us, we do not study dreams. Yes, Glorified and Exalted is He! They say: The Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from him that Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned in *I'lam al-Muwaqqi'in* that once some issues in religion were difficult for him, and that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in a dream. And whoever sees the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in a dream in his true form, it is the truth. So he asked him about things, among which was: that he leads funeral prayers for people of innovation, and we do not know if they are Muslims or disbelievers? So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to him: "Stick to the condition, O Ahmad. Stick to the condition, O Ahmad." And Ibn al-Qayyim is trustworthy, and the Shaykh al-Islam is trustworthy. And the fact that the Messenger said: "O Ahmad" means that he knows some of the names upon him (peace and blessings be upon him). And his saying: "Stick to the condition" is a ruling that does not contradict the Shari'ah. For the exception by supplication is permissible, is it not? In Surat al-Nur, in the ruling of the mutually accusing couple, the husband says:
And the fifth [oath will be] that the curse of Allah be upon him if he should be among the liars. وَالْخَامِسَةُ أَنَّ لَعْنَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ
[An-Nur 24:7]
and she says:
that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he was of the truthful. أَنَّ غَضَبَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
[An-Nur 24:9]
And in the supplication of istikharah
Allahumma in kunta ta'lamu anna hadha-lamra khairun li اللهم إن كنت تعلم أن هذا الأمر خير لي
Sahih al-Bukhari 6382
So this dream does not contradict the rulings in wakefulness, so it is acceptable. So if it happens that you see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in a dream in the form he is in, and he gives you a fatwa, we look after we present this fatwa to the Shari'ah. As for me, do not take anything from me in a dream. Yes.

The questioner : Your Eminence, in the hadith.

The Shaykh : If you write the issues, we will look at them. Present them to us; perhaps they are correct. Yes.
