The Shaykh's comment on an earthquake that occurred in a great power.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And we say to these people: it is obligatory that you not forget what happened a month ago in a country considered a great power, where the earth trembled with them until it destroyed one hundred and twenty villages and cities, and it destroyed thousands of human beings, and it destroyed thousands of assets, livestock, and equipment, and it ruined the roads in a single moment, in one moment, without the deployment of airplanes, engines, or missiles, without anything, in one moment.
And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye. وما أمرنا إلا واحدة كلمح بالبصر
[Al-Qamar 54:50]
It destroyed their land. This great power compelled the leader of that state to cut off his official visits to entertain his people, if he was among them, and then he could not settle down until he went himself to stand at the site of the incident. So what happened in the commentary on this incident?

The questioner : Natural disasters.

The Shaykh : What happened? Natural phenomena, and they forget the Creator who arranged them, Mighty and Majestic, until He destroyed them. And it turned out that this strong nation is weak or lazy, to the extent that the units that came to rescue them retreated because they did not see any response or cooperation. So where is the strength? I say: if we were not tails—O people—if the Muslims were an independent nation that truly raises the banner of Islam and applies it within itself before calling others to it, no one could ever confront it. I am telling you that this leader says, not about himself but about his kind, that if the Islamic nation had truly applied Islam, it would possess what is under our feet, is that not so? I say that he says this about his kind, not about himself, because the greatest authority in the era of the Message was the authority of Heraclius and Kisra. And when Abu Sufyan told Heraclius about the characteristics of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his followers, what did he say? He said: "If what you say is true, he will possess what is under these two feet of mine; he will possess what is under these two feet of mine." And the authority at that time was like the authority of the leaders of the great powers at this time. The authority of Heraclius at that time was like the authority of the leaders of the great powers at this time. And I say: if the Muslims had been independent in an Islamic independence, they would possess what is under the feet of the leaders of disbelief today, by the command of Allah. But Allah is Wise, Mighty and Majestic; if your Lord had willed, this matter that is among us now would not have happened. But it is obligatory upon us to hold together, and it is obligatory for the people of knowledge to call the peoples in general, and the rulers specifically if they are able, to abandon subservience.
