A summary of the ruling on wearing silk.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So, silk is forbidden for men, with three exceptions: a flag or something similar, provided it is four fingers wide or less.
Second: if the silk is mixed with other materials, and the silk is less than the other materials or equal to them.
The third thing: if there is a need for it, such as an itch.
As for women, the original ruling is that it is permissible for them to wear silk, but if that leads to extravagance, it is not permissible. For example, if a silk garment costs ten thousand, we may say it is prohibited, not because it is silk, but because of the extravagance, for extravagance is not permissible,
and eat and drink, but be not excessive وَكُلوا وَاشرَبوا وَلا تُسرِفوا
[Al-A'raf 7:31]
.

The questioner : Breaking the hearts of the poor.

The Shaykh : Yes?
