What is the ruling on a man wearing a garment that contains a percentage of silk?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. A questioner asks about the ruling on wearing a garment that contains a percentage of silk in its fabric, for example, thirty percent silk or otherwise?

The Shaykh : And is it a man, not a woman?

The questioner : A man.

The Shaykh : It is not permissible for a man to wear silk, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it for the males of his Ummah, except for the width of two, three, or four fingers. That is to say, if the garment has stripes, for example, the width of four fingers, there is no harm, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted a dispensation for that. However, if the silk is mixed, meaning intermingled with the wool or cotton in it, then one looks at which is the majority. If the majority is silk, it is forbidden. If the majority is not silk, it is not forbidden. If they are equal, some scholars forbade and prohibited it, and some scholars permitted it. But men should avoid wearing silk absolutely, because a man is complete in himself and does not need to complete himself with clothing or jewelry or the like. Women are the ones who need to complete themselves with clothing or jewelry. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said:
Or one who is raised in adornment أومن ينشأ في الحلية
while being during conflict unevident وهو في الخصام غير مبين
[Az-Zukhruf 43:18]
Who is meant by this? The woman is the one who is raised in adornment and brought up with it. As for the man, he should be a man in the true sense of the word and stay away from such matters. Likewise, a man does not wear gold absolutely. Yes.
