The obligation of growing the beard and the refutation of those who said it is permissible to trim it

The Shaykh : If someone were to say: "Should not the command regarding it be for recommendation, as many scholars have said, meaning that growing the beard and letting it hang down is recommended but not obligatory?" The answer is that we say: No, it is not appropriate for it to be for recommendation, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: And opposing the polytheists is obligatory, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Sunan Abi Dawud 4031Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani) If that is the case, then we cannot say that it is on the path of recommendation.
If someone were to say: "What if a man's beard is not even, with some of it long and some short, and he wants to take the long part to make it level with the short part?" We say: This is not permissible, because the hadith is general, and we fear that his hand might make a mistake and cut off much of the excess, and then he would add to the deficient part. Yes, and he does this, sometimes adding to this and sometimes adding to that, until he has dealt with it all. Yes, and although this may not happen, it might happen. The important thing is that if a person wants to make it perfectly even, like a crescent moon, he might find it difficult to make it even, and his hand might make a mistake and take more, taking from the second part, and so on.
Then we say: The best thing with which a person adorns himself is obedience to Allah, by His saying: So, my brother, adorn yourself with obedience to Allah, and this is what is more fitting for you. It is possible with this excess that you twist it, meaning you turn it back and incorporate it into the beard. If you do this, then your face will have nothing extra on it, meaning it is possible that this excess might be ten hairs or twenty hairs or something similar; you let it go within the hair when you want to go out to people and face people, and in that case, the leveling is achieved without falling into disobedience to the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.
