The Defects of the Tongue.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The tongue has many defects that pertain to the right of Allah and to the rights of the servants of Allah. As for the right of Allah, it is speaking words that object to the decree of Allah, whether His decree of destiny or His legislative decree, or describing Allah with what is not befitting Him. This pertains to the right of Allah.
An example of the first is disparaging the decree of Allah. This is disparaging what Allah the Exalted decrees for His servants, such as drought, barrenness of the land, diseases that occur, trials, wars, and the like. It is not permissible to object to Allah in this. Allah Mighty and Majestic has wisdom in what He decrees. Know that He did not decree this thing except for a great wisdom that is hidden from you, so it is not permissible to object to Allah in this. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
your" if" opens the (gate) for the Satan إن لو تفتح عمل الشيطان
Sahih Muslim 2664
This is what pertains to the right of Allah.
As for what pertains to the rights of the created: backbiting, cursing, insulting, and invoking curses. All of this requires that the tongue be guarded from it, and that a person avoid it to the utmost extent.
