Does he mean that he does not pay attention to it because he is ignorant of it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Does he mean that he does not pay attention to it because he is ignorant of it?

The Shaykh : No, he does not care about it, because some people let their tongues run with words without reflecting on them, but if they reflect, they find that it is a great word.

The questioner : If he is ignorant, is he held accountable for it?

The Shaykh : No, if he is ignorant, the ruling is based on the general texts
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. ربنا لا تؤاخذنا إن نسينا أو أخطأنا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
But sometimes a person has a quickness of tongue and a lack of concern, so he utters a word that may be a word of disbelief or mockery of Allah or something similar, and he plunges into the Fire because of it. This happens often, especially among people who joke a lot. You find him speaking without caring, and a word comes to him that nullifies his deeds while he does not know it. On the contrary, a word from the pleasure of Allah: he may speak a word without paying attention to it, and a person hears it and benefits from it. It may also be a word in the presence of an unjust ruler; he speaks a word without paying attention to it, and Allah raises him in degrees because of it, even though he did not pay attention to it, but because of its good effects he is rewarded for it. Otherwise, one might say: how can a person who does not pay attention have a reward when he did not intend it? We say: this is from the category of fruits, and because there is a difference between the fruits of a thing and the thing itself. A thing may have noble fruits that people benefit from, and it is a word he did not pay attention to.
The Reader: The chapter on weeping out of fear of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, saying: Yahya narrated to us from 'Ubayd Allah...

The Shaykh : The chapter on weeping out of fear of Allah. This is causal, meaning because of the fear of Allah. And fear is fear based on knowledge, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Only those who have knowledge among His servants fear Allah." It is also based on the greatness of the One feared, due to His greatness.
