Benefits of the Hadith: (If one of you looks at someone who has been given preference over him in wealth and appearance, let him look at someone who is lower than him in that regard)

The Shaykh : However, there is an educational benefit in this, which is that a person should, when he looks at something, look at its opposite and counterpart, so that he balances this with that. This has many proofs in the Sunnah, including the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): So, when you see someone who is higher than you in wealth and appearance, you must look at the counterpart, and at those who are lower than you, so that you thereby recognize the magnitude of the blessing of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
