The questioner : She recalls that she is a girl from a conservative family and praises Allah. She says: My problem is that I was at a good level of mindfulness of Allah and religion. I often read the Qur'an and increased in prayer, night prayer, fasting, and acts of worship. I wept much out of fear of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and I was in great happiness because of my faith in Allah. But since a short time ago, my condition changed completely. I became very anxious and depressed. I try to read the Qur'an but to no avail; even when I read, I cannot complete the recitation. Likewise, when I read the morning and evening dhikr, I say to myself that there is no benefit in them. I no longer care about night prayer or fasting, and I feel that all the evil I do is not by my will. I have become living a very miserable life to the extent that I sometimes deny the resurrection and the Reckoning, and I deny the punishment of the grave, and I deny Paradise and the Fire. I am now a different person and I do not know the reason. I often fear a bad ending. What should I do? Knowing that I have failed many times in my attempts. Guide us and direct us, may Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : I ask Allah the Exalted for her well-being, and that He return her to her previous soundness. And I give her good news that this is whispers from Satan that enter the heart of the believing person to disturb his life and corrupt his religion. The cure for that is by two things:
The first is: turning away from this matter and forgetting this matter, ignoring it, and continuing in righteous deeds.
The second, which is the reality of the first, is seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan, by saying whenever she feels such things: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. This is how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided those who have whispers from Satan enter their hearts.
Then her saying that she sometimes denies the resurrection and denies Paradise and the Fire, this is also from the whispers, because if she were asked: Do you deny the resurrection? She would say: I seek refuge in Allah, I do not deny the resurrection. And if she were asked: Do you deny Paradise and the Fire? She would say: I seek refuge in Allah, I do not deny Paradise and the Fire.
Based on this, what occurs in her heart of such whispers has no effect and no harm for her. So let her be glad with good news, and let her seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan, and let her seek help from Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for firm faith and righteous deeds.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
