A man who bathed to remove major ritual impurity and bathed for the purpose of cleanliness: does that suffice for him instead of ablution for prayer, or is a full bath of the entire body required?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A man who bathed to remove major ritual impurity and bathed for the purpose of cleanliness: does that suffice for him instead of ablution for prayer, or is a full bath of the entire body required?

The Shaykh : Whoever bathes for the sake of major ritual impurity, that suffices for him instead of ablution, by the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
And Allah the Exalted did not mention ablution.
As for bathing to cool off, it does not suffice for ablution, because bathing to cool off is not due to a state of ritual impurity, so it is not sufficient. Rather, he must perform ablution after he finishes bathing to cool off.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
