The reciter: Musaddad narrated to us, Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, Zayd ibn Wahb narrated to us, I heard Abdullah say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: Sahih al-Bukhari 7052.
The Shaykh : This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in this phrase:. The letter "s" in "sawtarun" implies two things: nearness and certainty. "Sawfa" implies two things: certainty and distance. So his saying: Sahih al-Bukhari 2377 means they will take precedence over you in wealth and other matters. And this is what happened, for the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) saw taking precedence by the rulers and saw matters they disapproved of. When he informed them of this hadith, they knew that the situation would be severe for them, so they asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what they should do?
He said:Sahih al-Bukhari 7052 meaning that if they take precedence over them, and let us suppose they are forbidden from something and they do it, or they are commanded to do something and they do not do it, this is taking precedence. Do you say, if they command you to do something, "I will not listen and I will not obey because they do not do it"? Or do you say, if they forbid you from something, "I will do it because they do it"?
The answer is: No, this is not permissible. Rather, give them their right, which is listening and obeying in other than disobedience to Allah, and ask Allah for your right. Ask Allah to guide them so that they do not take precedence over you. If the people had followed this path, the fitnahs that occurred at the end of the era of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would not have happened. And up to this day, the hatred of the rulers, their enmity, their tyranny over the people, and the people's rising against them have not occurred. Therefore, the people innovated, so Allah innovated for them. This balance mentioned by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the truth. And none of us doubts that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is the most sincere of creation to creation and the most knowledgeable of creation about what benefits them. Is that not so? He did not say, "If you see arrogance, demand it from them and reject them, and say, 'We will not listen until you do what you command us to do, and we will not listen until you leave what you forbid us from.'" No, he said: which is listening and obeying , for whoever withdraws his hand from obedience dies the death of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, may Allah protect us from that.
You will see after me, selfishness (on the part of other people) and other matters that you will disapprove of." They asked, "What do you order us to do, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)? (under such circumstances)?" He said, "Pay their rights to them (to the rulers) and ask your right from Allah."
إنكم سترون بعدي أثرة وأمورا تنكرونها، قالوا : فما تأمرنا يا رسول الله؟ قال :، أدوا إليهم حقهم وسلوا الله حقكمThe Shaykh : This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in this phrase:
You will see
سترونAfter me you will see the people giving preference (to others)
إنكم سترون بعدي أثرةAnd you will see matters you will disapprove of
وسترون أمورا تنكرونهاHe said:
Pay their rights to them (to the rulers) and ask your right from Allah.
أدوا إليهم حقهم وسلوا الله حقكمThe answer is: No, this is not permissible.
