Explanation of the Book of Fitans and Rulings-03b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ahmad ibn Yunus narrated to us, Abu Shihab narrated to us, from Awf, from Abu al-Munhal, that he said:
When Ibn Ziyad and Marwan were in Sham, Ibn al-Zubayr rose up in Makkah, and the reciters rose up in Basrah, I went with my father to Abu Barzah al-Aslami until we entered his house. He was sitting in the shade of a hut of his made of reeds. We sat with him, and my father began to ask him for a hadith. He said: "O Abu Barzah, do you not see what the people have fallen into? The first thing I heard him say was: 'I have reckoned with Allah that I have become displeased with the tribes of Quraysh. You, O Arabs, were in the state you know of humiliation, fewness, and misguidance. And Allah saved you through Islam and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) until He brought you to what you see. And this worldly life which has corrupted things between you. Indeed, that one in Sham, by Allah, fights only for the worldly life. And indeed, these who are among you, by Allah, fight only for the worldly life. And indeed, that one in Makkah, by Allah, fights only for the worldly life.'"
.

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest in every situation. This is the opinion of Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) that each of these people fights for the worldly life. It appears that he (may Allah be pleased with him) ruled this way because of the great fitans (trials) he saw. Otherwise, the original rule is that the pledge of allegiance is for the first one, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded. And if we pledge allegiance to the first one, then whoever wants to break the unity, we fight him along with the one we pledged allegiance to first. It is known that the first pledge of allegiance was for Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah, because his father was the Caliph in general, and then he became the Caliph after him, so the pledge of allegiance is for him. Even if these people are more pious than him and more knowledgeable of Allah than him, this is not sufficient to depose the first Caliph as long as we have not seen clear disbelief regarding which we have proof from Allah. And for this reason, as Abu Barzah said, it appears to me from his words that he has abandoned all of them, and he is not with these nor with those, because he swore that all of them are fighting for the worldly life. And that is his saying: "They fight only for the worldly life". This is a negation, meaning they do not fight except for the worldly life.
