The questioner : In the name of Allah, and all praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah:
The truth is, O Shaykh, I did not come except out of love for Allah, a desire to greet you, to ensure your health, and to benefit from sitting with you. My question regarding this topic, O Shaykh, is:
I mean, what is your opinion on traveling to scholars and sitting with them? Do you encourage the youth to do so? Because I have heard some people say: It is sufficient to listen to the tapes, and there is no need, for example, to travel.

The Shaykh : First: May Allah reward you
Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him. من سلك طريقا يلتمس فيه علما سهل الله به طريقا إلى الجنة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2646Sahih (Darussalam)
.
And Jabir ibn 'Abdullah, one of the Companions, traveled to 'Abdullah ibn Unays for the sake of a single hadith for a month, traveling by camel for a month to take from him a single hadith. So, traveling to seek knowledge, even for a single issue, is a great reward and much good.
And traveling for the sake of visiting the brothers and spreading affection and love is like what was heard: "The report is not like the direct observation". If you come to a man and see him, it is much stronger than if you only heard about him. This is also much good. So, if Allah wills, you are on a reward, whether your travel is for the sake of greeting or for the sake of knowledge.
