Following up on some young men who wear turbans on occasions, and we advised them that it is a garment of ostentation that contradicts the custom of the people of the country and is not a Sunnah, so they said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

The Shaykh : No person can bring evidence that the Messenger ordered the wearing of the turban. If he had ordered it, we would know that it is a Sunnah, an act of worship, because everything the Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) ordered is an act of worship, except for things where evidence indicates they are for permissibility. But there is no hadith ordering the turban; it is only from the action of the Messenger because people used to be accustomed to it.
And tell these brothers: then wear an izar and a rida, because the Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) used to wear an izar and a rida, and he sometimes wore a shirt.
So we say to the brothers: your action is ostentation, as I said, especially if it is on occasions. It is as if the doer is saying to people: look at me, for I am the one who follows the Sunnah, and whoever is not in my clothing is not on the Sunnah. This is what his state implies, even if he does not say it with his tongue, he says it with his state. So my advice to them is: wear as people wear. And here are our previous and later scholars; we have not seen any of them do that, and they are on a high level of righteousness, piety, knowledge, and eagerness to adhere to the Sunnah. And they are more knowledgeable than these people without a doubt. Yes.
And I say: convey to them that we thank them for their insistence on following the Sunnah, but we would like them to delve deeper into the Sunnah first, and know what the Shari'ah wants from the unity of people and their agreement and lack of difference, even in clothing. For this reason, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) forbade two types of ostentation in clothing: ostentation of luxury or ostentation of humility. Yes.
