What is the criterion for applying the term hypocrisy to people?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May the Shaykh be honored, in this time, many people are accused of hypocrisy, and due to the prevalence of...

The Shaykh : Is it the one who is accused, or the one who accuses others?

The questioner : The one who accuses others, O Shaykh. Yes, and they cite the verse:
And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily وَإِذَا قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلاةِ قَامُوا كُسَالَى
[An-Nisa 4:142]
and others. So what is the criterion for hypocrisy, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Hypocrisy, may Allah reward you, is of two types:
Doctrinal hypocrisy. This resides in the heart, and no one knows it except Allah. For this reason, when some of the Companions committed a deviation, 'Umar or others would say:
He has committed hypocrisy إنه قد نافق
The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would then forbid them. So doctrinal hypocrisy resides in the heart, and it is not permissible for anyone to accuse another of it.
Practical hypocrisy: This is when one exhibits a trait of the hypocrites. There is no harm in saying: "This is a hypocrite by this action." So if we see a man speaking and lying, we say: "This is a hypocrite." Is this doctrinal hypocrisy or practical hypocrisy in this matter?
In this matter.
If we see that when he stands for prayer, he stands lazily, we say: "This is a hypocrite," because he resembles the hypocrites in his standing for prayer with laziness. So practical hypocrisy is broad; whoever agrees with the hypocrites in one of their traits is a hypocrite, but he is a hypocrite specifically by this action, as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The signs of a hypocrite are three: 1. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 2. Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise ). 3. If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest. آية المنافق ثلاث : إذا حدث كذب وإذا وعد أخلف وإذا اؤتمن خان
Sahih al-Bukhari 33
: This is a sign of the hypocrite. But does this sign apply to everyone who does this?
No, some Muslims may do this, so we say: He is a hypocrite in this matter. Yes.
