But regarding the delay in making up the fast, since he broke his fast when he was nineteen and is now twenty-four, what is the ruling on that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : But regarding the delay in making up the fast, since he broke his fast when he was in his nineteenth year and is now in his twenty-fourth year.

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed.

The questioner : What is the ruling on that?

The Shaykh : This is, in fact, as we said in a previous session.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : It is considered negligence on the part of the believer to perform an act and then, after a long period, go and ask about it.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : We have previously hinted that it is obligatory for the Muslim, first, not to enter into worship except with knowledge and insight, so that he knows how to worship Allah.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Then, if that is not the case, at the very least, he should ask about the matter at the time so that the opportunity does not pass him by. So we say that this man erred in delaying his question until this time, but he is not required to do anything other than making up the fast, because the stronger position is that it is not obligatory for the negligent person to do anything other than making up Ramadan, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness.

The questioner : Yes, may Allah reward you. We received a message from the Arab Republic of Egypt from the questioner Muhammad Ibrahim Mahmoud, who asked several questions in this message. He says: To the honorable scholars, may Allah reward you, after greetings, please provide information on the following.
