How should a son advise his smoking father if he finds that he becomes very angry?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Regarding the father, if he is a smoker, and if the father gets angry at his son's advice, and thinks in his mind that his son is still young, how does he advise him?

The Shaykh : Do you find anger? If your father gets angry when you advise him, do you find anger greater than the anger of Azr when he said to Ibrahim:
If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time." لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهِ لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ وَاهْجُرْنِي مَلِيّاً
[Maryam 19:46]
Let him be angry. The person who gets angry at the advice of someone, whether they are below him, above him, or equal to him, let them be angry. But the wise person conceals his feelings and speaks at the appropriate times. For example, a person's father, or someone other than his father, may be in a state where he is not fit to accept advice. For instance, you see that his chest is tight from something, or he is busy eating, or busy with other things. So here, take advantage of his free time from his work, meaning: you leave the matter until he is ready to accept the advice. Yes, good.
