What is your explanation of the statement of those who say that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw his Lord on the night of the Mi'raj?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said, "It was transmitted by Imam al-Thawri, or was it al-Nawawi?"

The questioner : Al-Nawawi.

The Shaykh : Al-Nawawi, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him),
That the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) saw his Lord أن الرسول صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم رأى ربه
and also, what is it? From Anas, he said:
Muhammad had seen Gabriel إن محمدا صلى الله عليه وسلم
Sahih al-Bukhari 4857
So what is your explanation of this statement?"
It is obligatory, my brother, and this applies to everyone: if something is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), do not turn away from it in favor of the statement of anyone. Now, he spoke about himself when he was asked:
"Did you see your Lord?" He said: "No, a light. How could I see Him?" هل رأيت ربك ؟ قال : لا نور أنى أراه
and he said:
I saw a light. رأيت نورا
.
And Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah says: "Ibn Abbas did not say: 'He saw his Lord with his eye,' but he said: 'He saw his Lord.'" It is possible that he saw Him with his heart, not with his eye. He says: "Even if it were not reported from Ibn Abbas or anyone else that he explicitly stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw his Lord with his eye."

The questioner : The issue is the statement: "The majority are of that opinion."

The Shaykh : No, this is an error. This is an error. It is not the majority. How does he know about the majority? And as for us, even if everyone in the corners of the earth gathered, and the person concerned says, "I saw a light, or a light, how do I see it?" Well, this is what Khalid al-Afifi says.
