The reader: Abdullah ibn Hashim ibn Hayyan al-Abdi narrated to me, saying.

The Shaykh : Ibn Hashim.
The reader: ... .

The Shaykh : ... Ibn Hashim, not with us Hashim, the copy is with me, Muhammad Ali Subayh and his sons, yes.
The student: ... Ibn Hashim.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The reader: Abdullah ibn Hashim ibn Hayyan al-Abdi narrated to me, saying: Abd al-Rahman, meaning Ibn Mahdi, narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us from Salama ibn Kuhayl ..

The Shaykh : about?
The reader: from Salama ibn.

The Shaykh : No, no, you broke the taa.
The reader: from Salama ibn Kuhayl from Kuraib from Ibn Abbas, who said:
I spent the night at my aunt Maymunah’s house. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) got up in the night and attended to his needs, then he washed his face and hands, then he slept. Then he got up and went to the water jar, untied its straps, and performed ablution with an ablution between the two ablutions—he did not exaggerate, but he completed it. Then he stood up and prayed. I stood up and stretched myself out, fearing that he would see that I was awake for him. I performed ablution, and he stood up and prayed. I stood to his left, so he took my hand and moved me to his right. Thus, the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the night was completed at thirteen rak'ahs. Then he lay down and slept until he snored, and whenever he slept, he snored. Then Bilal came to him and announced the prayer to him, so he got up and prayed without performing ablution. And in his supplication, he said: O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light to my right, light to my left, light above me, light below me, light before me, light behind me, and grant me a great light.
, Kuraib said:
And seven in the chest. I met some of the descendants of al-Abbas, and he narrated them to me, mentioning my nerves, my flesh, my blood, my hair, and my skin, and he mentioned two characteristics.
.

The Shaykh : "Seven in the chest" means the heart, meaning that the chest is where things are preserved, so "seven in the chest" is in his heart, but he forgot it. The point of this hadith is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) made this comprehensive and exclusive supplication, where he asked his Lord, Mighty and Majestic, to place light in his heart, light in his sight, light in his hearing, to his right and to his left, so that light would encompass him from every side. The light intended here is spiritual light, not physical light, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) walked in the dark night like other people. But this is spiritual light. And if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) needed light, and he is the most guided of creation, then those below him are even more in need of it. Therefore, a person must always monitor his heart and look to see if there is darkness or murkiness in it, and strive to have light coming to him from every side. And his saying
And in his supplication
did not specify where it was; it is possible that it was in prostration and it is possible that it was in the tashahhud, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in prostration
make supplication with exertion in it, that is worthy of being accepted
Sunan Abi Dawud 876Sahih (Al-Albani)
and said in the tashahhud, when it was mentioned,
Then let him choose from the supplications whatever he wishes.
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:238
so it is possible that it was in this or in that. And what does al-Nawawi say?
