The reciter: Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: I read to Malik from Makhrama ibn Sulayman from Kuraib, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas: .
The Shaykh : May Allah send prayers and peace upon him. We have previously spoken about some of its benefits and clarified that it contains evidence for the permissibility of a person spending the night with his mahrams.
This is, if Allah wills, a good beginning.
The reciter: If Allah wills, I say, may Allah the Mighty and Majestic make you happy, may Allah the Mighty and Majestic make your affairs easy.
The Shaykh : If Allah wills, if Allah wills.
The reciter: And Allah the Mighty and Majestic, if Allah wills, knows the good intention.
The Shaykh : May Allah make it easy, and we ask Allah to rectify the intention.
The reciter: Amen, amen.
The Shaykh : If the intention is good, then Allah is more generous than us, yes.
The reciter: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings and bestow grace upon His servant and messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The Shaykh : ... , recorded ... , good, yes.
The reciter: Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his Sahih, The Book of the Prayer of the Traveler and Its Shortening.
That Ibn Abbas informed him that he spent a night at the house of Maymunah, the Mother of the Believers, who was his maternal aunt. He said: I lay down across the width of the mat, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his family lay down along its length. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) slept until the middle of the night, or a little before it, or a little after it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) awoke and began to wipe the sleep from his face with his hand. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surat al-Imran. Then he stood up and went to a hanging water skin and performed ablution from it, perfecting his ablution. Then he stood up and prayed. Ibn Abbas said: So I stood up and did what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had done. Then I went and stood beside him, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his right hand on my head and took my right ear and twisted it. Then he prayed two units, then two units, then two units, then two units, then two units, then two units, then he prayed the witr. Then he lay down until the mu'adhdhin came, so he stood up and prayed two light units, then he went out and prayed the Fajr prayer.
The Shaykh : May Allah send prayers and peace upon him.
