The questioner : For example, a person says, "There is no god but Allah," at the time of his death, but he said it while being far from hypocrisy in this situation.

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.

The questioner : But he was not on the path of guidance in his worldly life, and only when he was placed in this station did he remember his deeds that were contrary to Islam and wanted to repent and turn to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) after seeing death?

The Shaykh : If he sees death and has not done any righteous deed before, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has said:
But repentance is not [accepted] of those who [continue to] do evil deeds up until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "Indeed, I have repented now," وليست التوبة للذي يعملون السيئات حتى إذا حضر أحدهم الموت قال إني تبت الأن
[An-Nisa 4:18]
.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : This does not benefit him with his faith after he sees death, because it has become a faith based on seeing [death], but the intended meaning is if the person has faith and has committed sins before.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Then he said this at the time of his death, and he does not say it except sincerely, for it erases the sins that preceded him.

The questioner : Yes, you have done well.
This is a message from Muhammad M M from Makkah al-Mukarramah. He says, "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. I place my problem before you, hoping for your success and correctness in providing the appropriate solution. And for your information, although two years have passed, I still regret and suffer with sadness over what happened, and the summary of it is as follows."
