Hoping for death in this world

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a question we received from one of the sisters. She says, "My sister, the truth is that for years she has been suffering from a mental illness, and she always hopes for death in this world. She asks, does this affect her faith?"

Answer:
Answer: If this is the result of a mental illness, then she is not held accountable for it. But if she is sound and hopes for death, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should hope for death due to a hardship that has befallen him. If he must, let him say: 'O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and take my soul when death is better for me.'" Thus, he leaves the matter to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to choose for him what is best, whether life or death. Yes.
