Benefits of the Hadith: (… He said: That is the tranquility that descended for the Qur'an) and all its narrations.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this is evidence for the virtue of the Qur'an and that tranquility descends when it is recited. Tranquility is of two types: the tranquility of the heart, which is a spiritual matter that Allah the Exalted descends upon the heart of the reciter, especially if he recites with reflection, humility, presence of heart, and visualization of what he is reading. For example, if he reads about the Hereafter, he visualizes this great scene: that people will come out of the graves as if they were scattered locusts, and that they will be like scattered moths, and that the mountains will be like wool that has been carded. He visualizes this great scene and that man will be resurrected naked, men and women, and that a man will flee from his brother, his mother, and his father until the last thing mentioned by Allah. Indeed, there is no doubt that tranquility will descend into his heart, a sense of reassurance. And there is another tranquility, of which Allah knows best. This canopy that occurred for the reciter of the Qur'an is a tranquility. And there is a third tranquility as well, but it is of the same kind as the second: the angels descend to listen to the recitation of the reciter. This is undoubtedly a karamah (a miracle granted to a righteous person), because it appears, and Allah knows best, that it does not descend when everyone recites, but Allah may honor whomever He wills of His creation with it. Asid ibn Hudhayr (may Allah be pleased with him) saw this amazing thing hanging from the sky, in it were things like lamps, and the horse galloped three times until he feared for his son Yahya, who was in the drying yard. The drying yard is a place where dates are dried in the open fields. He feared that the horse would trample his son. So the result is that tranquility descends upon the reciter. As for… yes, the first tranquility, the first type, descends upon the heart of every reciter on the condition that he recites with reflection, humility, and visualization of the scenes of what he is reading, and this is for every heart. And the second, the other separate tranquility, is a karamah for some people; Allah honors whomever He wills with it. It may be said regarding this hadith, the first hadith, that it is about the virtue of reciting Surat al-Kahf. It may also be said that this happened coincidentally, that this man was reciting this surah, and that does not mean that it is better than the others. Indeed, the best surah in the Qur'an is al-Fatihah, and the greatest verse is the Verse of the Throne.
The student: The Throne.

The Shaykh : The Verse of the Throne, yes.
The reciter: The chapter on the virtue of the one who memorizes the Qur'an.
Qutaybah ibn Sa'id and Abu al-Kamil al-Juhdri narrated to us, both from Abu 'Awanah. Qutaybah said: Abu 'Awanah narrated to us from Qatadah from Anas from Abu Musa…
