Chapter: Do not rush to the prayer, but come to it with calmness and composure.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Reciter: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. Al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Chapter: Do not rush to the prayer, but come to it with calmness and composure. Then he said:
and pray whatever you get (with the people) and complete the rest which you have missed ما أدركتم فصلوا ، وما فاتكم فأتموا
Sahih al-Bukhari 635
, and Abu Qatadah narrated this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh : Regarding "he said," Abu Qatadah, there is no waw in it.
The Reciter: It has a waw in it, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : No, the apparent to us is that it is more correct, and it is the copy that is with you, the copy, but without the waw is more appropriate, better.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No, write "copy," it is not with you, write "copy."
The Reciter: Adam narrated to us.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The author said: Chapter: Do not rush to the prayer. One might ask: How do you reconcile this heading with the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا نودي للصلاة من يوم الجمعة فاسعوا إلى ذكر الله
[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9]
? The answer is that there is no contradiction, because the rushing that is prohibited is walking fast and hurrying, whereas the rushing that is commanded is turning to the prayer and not being preoccupied with anything else. It is known that if the direction is different, there is no contradiction. And his saying "with calmness and composure": calmness is in the heart, and composure is in the limbs, meaning that a person should be composed and calm and at peace. Allah the Exalted said:
It is He who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers هو الذي أنزل السكينة في قلوب المؤمنين
[Al-Fath 48:4]
And it is known that if one is calm and humble, the limbs become humble. Yes.
