The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
This contains a chapter on the virtue of the Qur'an for the one who masters it and is proficient in it, and that he is with the noble, righteous angels. They are the ones mentioned in the saying of Allah the Exalted:['Abasa 80:15-16] The intended meaning is the angels, who are the messengers between Allah and His creation, because they are the scribes who record the deeds of the servants. So the proficient one is with them in their ranks and stations, but it is not necessary that he be with them in their locations, because they differ from humans.
And His saying means that it is difficult for him, and he repeats and stutters, meaning he repeats the word again and again until he gets it right, so he is not proficient. If it is difficult for him, he has two rewards. His saying "stutters" includes the one who stammers and mumbles, meaning the one who has a defect or illness and cannot pronounce the letter easily. So there is no doubt that the Qur'an is difficult for him, and he has two rewards: the first reward is for the effort of recitation, and the second reward is for the recitation itself. But the reward for the recitation is less than the reward for the one who is proficient in the Qur'an, because the one who stutters in the Qur'an, especially if it is due to a lack of knowledge, only wants to reach the goal, which is mastery and proficiency in the Qur'an. And the means cannot be above the reward of the goal. This hadith indicates that every person who wants to complete the worship with difficulty has a reward greater than the one who does it without it being difficult for him. But it is not evidence that it is recommended for a person to intentionally seek difficulty, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the woman who vowed to perform Hajj on foot to the House of Allah, and he said to her to walk and to ride. So Allah (Mighty and Majestic) does not want us to do difficult deeds; He wants us to do what is easy. But if the performance of the worship is not possible except with difficulty, that becomes an increase in the reward. For example, if a person has cold water in the days of winter and has hot water, is it better to perform wudu with cold water or with hot water?
The student: Hot water.
The Shaykh : Hot water is better, but if he did not have hot water and he made an effort to perform wudu with cold water, that would be a great reward for him: the reward of wudu and the reward of the effort and difficulty. Yes, Muhammad.
