The questioner : He has another question in which he says that sometimes the 'Asr prayer coincides with his time at school, and he does not have the time to pray it at its proper time, and the mosque is far from the school. So should he pray it with Maghrib?

The Shaykh : It is not permissible for you to pray it with Maghrib; rather, it is obligatory for you to pray it at its proper time.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As we mentioned previously regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times. إن الصلاة كانت على المؤمنين كتاباً موقوتاً
[An-Nisa 4:103]
It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
the time of the afternoon prayer (lasts) as long as the sun does not turn pale وقت العصر ما لم تصفر الشمس
Sahih Muslim 612b
and he said:
and whoever manages to do a raka of asr before the sun has set has done asr in time. ما أدرك ركعة من العصر قبل أن تغرب الشمس فقد أدرك العصر
Muwatta Malik 1:5
because that indicates that delaying it until after sunset is not permissible and is not valid.

The questioner : Yes.
