The Book of Jumu'ah, the Two 'Eids, Istisqa', the Eclipse, and Funerals-03b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And 'Amr al-Naqqad narrated to us, Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us from Dhamrah ibn Sa'id from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: كتب الضحاك بن قيس إلى النعمان بن بشير يسأله أي شيء قرأ رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم الجمعة سوى سورة الجمعة فقال كان يقرأ هل أتاك Al-Dhahhak ibn Qays wrote to al-Nu'man ibn Bashir asking him what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited on Friday other than Surat al-Jumu'ah? He said: He used to recite "Has there come to you..."

The Shaykh : The apparent meaning of the hadith is that he is asking what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited on Friday other than Surat al-Jumu'ah. He said: He used to recite:
Has there come to manهل أتاك
. Its apparent meaning is that he recited
Has there come to manهل أتاك
in the first rak'ah, because he said "other than al-Jumu'ah," meaning he did not recite al-Jumu'ah, and he recited
Has there come to manهل أتاك
. However, this hadith in this context contradicts the authentic hadiths that Muslim mentioned before and after it, which state that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited on Friday, he recited al-Munafiqun in the second rak'ah, and when he recited al-Ghashiyah, he recited Subhan before it. Thus, there is an anomaly in this context.
