The Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) vision of the torment of 'Amr ibn Luhay: Was it in the Fire or in the grave?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) vision of 'Amr ibn Luhay being tormented in the Fire: Is this the torment of the grave, or is it the torment of...?

The Shaykh : It is real. Perhaps Allah (Mighty and Majestic) transferred these people to the Fire so that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) could see them, but the original state is that they are in their graves,

The questioner : and they return to the torment of the grave after being seen.

The Shaykh : Allah knows best. These are matters of the unseen that we do not know.

The questioner : In His saying, “until Allah relieves them,” is the word “until” for the purpose of causation or for the purpose of limit?

The Shaykh : It appears to be for the purpose of limit. That is, they will remain in it until it is lifted, and it is not for the purpose of causation, because if it were for the purpose of causation, the minimum amount of prayer would suffice.
