The reciter: Abu al-Kamil al-Juhdari narrated to us, Hammad, meaning ibn Zayd, narrated to us from 'Asim al-Ahwal, from Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi, from Usamah ibn Zayd, who said:
We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when one of his daughters sent for him, inviting him, and informing him that a boy of hers, or a son of hers, was dying. So he said to the messenger: "Go back to her and tell her: To Allah belongs what He takes and what He gives, and everything with Him is by a specified term. So tell her to be patient and to seek reward." So the messenger returned and said: "She has sworn that you will surely come to her." He said: So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah and Mu'adh ibn Jabal stood up with him, and I went with them. The boy was lifted to him, and his soul was gasping as if in a water skin. So his eyes overflowed. Sa'd said to him: "What is this, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "This is mercy which Allah has placed in the hearts of His servants, and Allah only shows mercy to the merciful among His servants."
