Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And it was narrated to us by Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah, who narrated to us Jarir. And it was narrated to us by Ishaq ibn Ibrahim, who informed us of Isa ibn Yunus. And it was narrated to us by Minjab ibn al-Harith al-Tamimi, who informed us of Ali ibn Masihr. And it was narrated to us by Ishaq ibn Ibrahim and Ibn Abi Umar, both of them, from Ibn Uyaynah, from al-A'mash, with this chain of narration, to the same effect.

The Shaykh : Mus'ab ibn Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) was among the youth of Quraysh, and he was pampered by his parents, to the point that it was said he used to wear a new cloak every day. When he embraced Islam, his parents boycotted him and made things difficult for him. He emigrated with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and was killed on the Day of Uhud (may Allah be pleased with him). Nothing was found for him except this cloak that had been his garment. They shrouded him, and it is said: "When we placed it over his head, his feet would stick out, and when we placed it over his feet, his head would stick out," because it was short, and they had no other clothes. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to place it over his head and to put some of the ishdhar plant over his feet. In this, there is evidence for several benefits, among which are:
that a person is shrouded from his own wealth, and that there is no harm in being shrouded in the clothes one is wearing, and that there is no harm in being shrouded in a single garment, and that it is obligatory to cover the entire body in the shroud, and that if nothing is found to cover the entire body, it is covered with ishdhar or the like, and that shrouding is a collective obligation, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Place it over the part near his head, and that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) considered their emigration to be in the path of Allah. ضَعُوهَا مِمَّا يَلِي رَأْسَه، وأن الصحابة رضي الله عنهم اعتبروا هجرتهم في سبيل الله
And on this basis, we say: everyone who sets out for the sake of Allah the Exalted, whether to seek knowledge, for Hajj, for 'Umrah, or for something similar, is in the path of Allah, but in the general sense.
And among them is: showing leniency toward the one who did not get to take anything from the delights of this world, because Mus'ab ibn Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) did not take anything of what those who remained took until the Islamic conquests, because those who remained until the Islamic conquests obtained a great deal from this world, more than they had imagined, as Allah the Exalted said:
Allah has promised you much booty that you will take وعدكم الله مغانِم كثيرةً تأخذونها
[Al-Fath 48:20]
As for those who died before that, they did not attain anything. This is as if he is saying: this young man who died before he could attain from this world what we attained, so it seems he is expressing grief for him. But we say: a person does not know which is better, to remain in this world for a long time or to depart to the Hereafter in a short time.
