The reciter: And Muhammad ibn Hatim narrated to me, saying: Bahz narrated to us, saying: Wahib narrated to us, saying: Musa ibn 'Uqbah narrated to us from 'Abd al-Wahid from 'Abbad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr, who narrated from 'A'ishah
That when Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas died, the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word that his funeral should be brought through the mosque so that they could pray over him. So they did, and he was stopped at their mats so they could pray over him. He was taken out through the door for funerals, which was near the seating area. Then it reached them that the people had criticized this, saying, "Funerals were not brought into the mosque." When that reached 'A'ishah, she said, "How quickly people are to criticize what they have no knowledge of! They criticized us for bringing a funeral through the mosque, whereas the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pray over Suhayl ibn Bayda' except in the inner part of the mosque."
