The reciter: Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to us, saying: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us. And 'Abd ibn Humayd narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Bakr informed us. They both said: Ibn Jurayj informed us. And 'Ali ibn Khashram narrated to us, and the wording is his, saying: 'Isa informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: 'Ata informed me that Safwan ibn Ya'la ibn Umayyah informed him:
That Ya'la used to say to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): "I wish I could see the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when the revelation descends upon him." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at al-Ji'ranah, and a garment was spread over him to shade him, with some of his Companions with him, among them 'Umar, a man came to him wearing a woolen jacket and anointed with perfume. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a man who enters the state of ihram for 'Umrah in a jacket after having anointed himself with perfume?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at him for a while, then remained silent. Then the revelation came to him. 'Umar gestured with his hand to Ya'la ibn Umayyah, saying: "Come." Ya'la came and put his head in. He saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a flushed face, breathing heavily for a while, then it passed from him. He said: "Where is the one who asked me about 'Umrah just now?" The man was sought out and brought to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for the perfume on you, wash it three times. And as for the jacket, take it off. Then do in your 'Umrah what you do in your Hajj."
أن يعلى كان يقول لعمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه : ليتني أرى نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حين ينزل عليه ، فلما كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بالجعرانة ، وعلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ثوب قد أظل به عليه ، معه ناس من أصحابه ، فيهم عمر ، إذ جاءه رجل عليه جبة صوفٍ ، متضمخ بطيبٍ ، فقال: يا رسول الله، كيف ترى في رجلٍ أحرم بعمرةٍ في جبةٍ بعدما تضمخ بطيبٍ ؟ فنظر إليه النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ساعةً ، ثم سكت ، فجاءه الوحي ، فأشار عمر بيده إلى يعلى بن أمية : تعال ، فجاء يعلى ، فأدخل رأسه ، فإذا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم محمرُ الوجه ، يغط ساعةً ، ثم سري عنه ، فقال : أين الذي سألني عن العمرة آنفًا ؟ فالتمس الرجل ، فجيء به ، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم : أما الطيب الذي بك ، فاغسله ثلاث مراتٍ ، وأما الجبة فانزعها ، ثم اصنع في عمرتك ، ما تصنع في حجك
