The questioner : He asks in his final question: Why is it not permissible to recite the supplications found in the Noble Qur'an during the bowing and prostration in prayer?

The Shaykh : In fact, the question should be: Why is it not permissible to recite the Qur'an during the bowing and prostration?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, we say: It is not permissible, because it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said
Beware, I have been forbidden to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating. As for the bowing, glorify the Lord therein, and as for the prostration, strive in supplication, for it is likely that it will be answered for you. ألا وإني نهيت أن أقرأ القرأن راكعاً أو ساجداً، أما الركوع فعظموا فيه الرب، وأما السجود فاجتهدوا في الدعاء فقمن أن يستجاب لكم
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:187
. However, if one supplicates with what corresponds to the Qur'an during his prostration, such as
Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." ربنا ءاتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الأخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار
[Al-Baqarah 2:201]
[Who say], "Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower. ربنا لا تزغ قلوبنا بعد إذ هديتنا وهب لنا من لدنك رحمة إنك أنت الوهاب
[Ali 'Imran 3:8]
Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people." ربنا اغفر لنا ذنوبنا وإسرافنا في أمرنا وثبت أقدامنا وانصرنا على القوم الكافرين
[Ali 'Imran 3:147]
, there is nothing wrong with that, because his intention is supplication, not recitation.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : So, if a person supplicates in his bowing and prostration with what corresponds to the Qur'an, there is no blame on him for that. What is prohibited is reciting the Qur'an during the bowing or the prostration. Yes.

The questioner : The sender is Umm Ahmad Ba al-Haliwa from Riyadh.
