The reciter: And Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, he said: Ibn 'Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ibn 'Unayn, from Ibrahim, from al-Aswad, from the Mother of the Believers, and from al-Qasim, from the Mother of the Believers, who said: Sahih Muslim 1211r.
The Shaykh : There is some anxiety and disturbance in the wording of this hadith, which points to what came before.
That is to say: He said, "Wait, and when you are purified, go out to al-Tan'im." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say this when he learned of her menstruation, but rather he said it when she persisted with him after the completion of Hajj to perform an 'Umrah. For this reason, you find that he said, "I think he said tomorrow," and it is known that she caught up with him that night and went out with him.
