The questioner : Also, he asks: If a person performs Hajj while owing a debt, is his Hajj accepted? And if a person performs Hajj on behalf of his wife after her death, is his Hajj accepted for her?

The Shaykh : Yes, if a person performs Hajj while owing a debt, his Hajj is accepted because being free of debt is not a condition for the validity of Hajj. However, we say that if a person has a due debt, he should pay it off before performing Hajj, because the obligation to pay off a debt takes precedence over the obligation of Hajj. If the debt is deferred and he has the means to pay it, and he has asked permission from the creditor, then he may also perform Hajj, and there is no blame on him, because he is able to pay it off in the future.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As for his performing Hajj on behalf of his wife, that is also accepted if he performs it for her. He should say when entering the state of ihram, "Labbaik for my wife so-and-so." If he does not specify her by name, his intention is sufficient. Yes.

The questioner : His last question says, no, his question at the end of this session. As for the questions, some will remain for the next session.
