The Book of Hajj-08b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Amr ibn Bistam al-Isi narrated to me, saying: Yazid, meaning ibn Zura'ib, narrated to us, saying: Habib ibn al-Shahid narrated to us, from Bakr ibn Abdullah, saying: Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us:
That he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) combining between them, between Hajj and 'Umrah. He said: So I asked Ibn Umar, and he said: We declared our intention for Hajj. I returned to Anas and informed him of what Ibn Umar said, and he said: It is as if we were children.
.

The Shaykh : This is a disagreement between Abdullah ibn Umar and Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with them) regarding what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared his intention for. Ibn Umar says that he declared his intention for Hajj, even though he used to say that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed tamattu', from 'Umrah to Hajj, Ibn Umar himself, and Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared his intention for Hajj, and Anas says that he declared his intention for both together, and he rebuked those who said that he declared his intention for Hajj, saying: It is as if they are counting us as children. So it is necessary to reconcile the texts. The scholars differed on the reconciliation in two ways: The first way is that what Ibn Umar meant by mentioning ifrad, and likewise Aisha, is the separation of the actions, meaning that the ifrad in their two hadiths refers to the separation of the actions, because the one performing qiran does not add to the actions of the one performing ifrad, and in this case the hadiths are reconciled.
The second way is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the state of ihram first for Hajj, then it was said to him: Say 'Umrah and Hajj, so he added the 'Umrah to the Hajj. This is clear according to the opinion of those who permit adding 'Umrah to Hajj. As for the one who forbids adding 'Umrah to Hajj, he does not follow except the first way, which is that the meaning of ifrad is the separation of the actions and deeds. In this is mentioned the anger of a person when people do not accept the truth that he brought, and that a person, when he becomes angry not to defend his own opinion but to defend the truth, is not to be blamed. Indeed, Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) uttered this word, and there is no doubt that what prompted him to utter it was anger.
