I am asking about my visits to the graveyards, and they say that reciting the surah "Al-Haqqah" (or the surah beginning with "Alhaakum al-takaathur") when entering the graveyard brings reward to the reciter, and is crying in the graveyard forbidden or not?

The questioner : I am asking about my visits to the graveyards, and they say that reciting the surah
Alhaakum al-takaathur
when entering the graveyard brings reward to the reciter, and is crying in the graveyard forbidden or not?

The Shaykh : Visiting the graveyards is recommended for men, but the purpose of it is to take a lesson and to remember, for a person to remember his end, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Visit the graveyards, for they remind you of the Hereafter. Likewise, the purpose includes making du'a' for the deceased, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do when he went out to the graveyard; he would greet them and make du'a' for them. As for reciting "Alhaakum al-takaathur" when entering the graveyards, I do not know of any Sunnah regarding it, so it is not prescribed for the visitor to recite it, because that was not reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). As for crying in the graveyard, there is no harm in it, provided it does not reach the level of wailing or lamentation. However, we advise anyone who knows that when he goes to the graveyard, he remembers a relative or a friend and then starts to cry, because that renews sorrows. A thing that renews sorrows is not something a person should remember; rather, he should stay away from it until he forgets this calamity and occupies himself with the interests of his religion and his worldly affairs. The questioner: About moving from one mosque to another and leaving the first mosque. This message was sent by the brother in Allah, Abdullah Muhammad al-Junayni, from Bisha.
