The questioner : His other question asks: Is it permissible to turn one of the stories of the Noble Qur'an, such as the story of Yusuf, into poetry? Please inform us, and may you receive abundant thanks?

The Shaykh : The Noble Qur'an is the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and it must be honored because it is the speech of Allah. It is a glorious Qur'an, a great Qur'an, and a noble Qur'an. Therefore, it is not permissible to alter it from the manner in which Allah the Exalted revealed it, especially converting it into poetry. This is among the greatest of what is wrong and among the greatest acts of boldness against Allah (Mighty and Majestic). The Qur'an was revealed for taking heed and for remembrance, not to be made into songs or poetry.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Attempting this is among the greatest acts of boldness against Allah the Exalted and among the greatest of what is wrong, and it is forbidden without doubt.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.
