The questioner : Also, a man says: A man was a slave and his master freed him. He married and had children. Are the children considered slaves or free for the sake of Allah the Exalted?

The Shaykh : The children are free. Know that children follow the mother in terms of freedom or slavery. If a slave marries a free woman, his children are free because they follow the mother. If it happens that a free man marries a slave woman, and he is one of those for whom it is permissible to marry slave women, and she bears him children, then her children are slaves belonging to her master, unless the husband stipulates that they are free. Yes.
