It is reported that Allah created mercy. Does this contradict His description of Himself (Glorified and Exalted is He) with it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We said that mercy is among the essential attributes of Allah, and it has instances.

The Shaykh : In terms of its instances and individual cases, it is an attribute of action.

The questioner : However, it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said that Allah created mercy...

The Shaykh : The term "creation" here, with regard to the attribute of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), means that He was described with it; that is, He was described with it. Since the mercy in the earth is created, the term "creation" was applied to both mercies. Thus, the creation of mercy, in terms of its attribution to Allah, is in the category of His being described with it, and the creation of the mercy in the earth is clearly created. This is the best way to answer it: it is said that the word "created" is a shared term. It is interpreted in one way with regard to the mercy of the created beings, meaning the mercy in the created beings, and it is interpreted in another way with regard to the mercy of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
